Jennifer Austin, Ph.D.
Professor
Jennifer Austin is a Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at Rutgers University, Newark. She received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Cornell University with a minor in Cognitive Science. Her research interests include multilingualism, language contact, and bilingual language development. She co-authored the book Bilingualism in the Spanish-Speaking World: Linguistic and Cognitive Perspectives (Cambridge University Press, 2015) and has published articles on syntactic and morphological development in children and adults learning Spanish, Basque, and English. Austin is a co-founder and faculty advisor for the Lives in Translation program at Rutgers-Newark and is a co-founder of HoLa, the Spanish/English dual-language school in Hoboken, NJ.
