The Institute for Data, Research, and Innovation Science (IDRIS) is an organizing hub for applied, social, ethical, and responsible scholarship and practice in data science and technology at Rutgers University-Newark.

IDRIS’s mission is to use data and technology to interrogate and address wicked problems facing urban communities. In its effort to achieve this aim, the institute situates data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and other technologies in an ethical, community-engaged framework that meaningfully accounts for human and urban complexities.
