Gregory Porumbescu, Ph.D.

Dr. Gregory A. Porumbescu is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University–Newark. He received his PhD from Seoul National University in South Korea. As a public management scholar, his research centers on the influence of technology on the democratic anchorage of public organizations and has appeared in outlets such as the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Administration Review, Government Information Quarterly, and Social Science & Medicine. His research has received support from organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education. He also served as co-founding principal investigator for the New Jersey State Policy Lab, an initiative dedicated to enhancing evidence-based policy making in state government, and was a member of Governor Murphy’s New Jersey AI Task Force’s Equity and Digital Literacy Working Group, where he provided guidance on developing equitable AI policies.
