Nguyen Pham

IDRIS Student Researchers

Nguyen Pham is a Ph.D. candidate in Organization Management at Rutgers Business School, specializing in the study of workplace deviance, business ethics, organizational neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. Her current research explores the cognitive and emotional mechanisms that drive third-party responses to abusive supervision using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques to study the brain. In forthcoming work, she will investigate the darker side of “hedonomic” human-AI interactions, namely AI-targeted abuse, as well as the pursuit of rights for autonomous artificial intelligence agents. Nguyen has presented her work at many academic conferences, including the Academy of Management, the Society for Business Ethics, the Psychonomic Society, and the Neuroethics Network. Her work was recognized with the Best Symposium Award in 2023 by the AOM Organizational Neuroscience and Biology (NeuB) division for her contributions to the symposium “Understanding Challenges and Deviations in Organizations: A Biological Perspective”.

With a background in clinical psychology and philosophy, and having worked as a psychometrist and psychologist in both clinical and correctional settings, Nguyen applies an interdisciplinary lens to her work, integrating insights from behavioral health, criminal justice, neuroscience, ethical theory, and now organizational behavior. She currently serves as the Lab Coordinator for the Rutgers Business School Behavioral Lab and has served as the RBS student representative of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT since 2022. Through all forms of her work, Nguyen seeks to contribute to a more just and informed approach to the future of technology, wellbeing in the workplace, and the evolving moral responsibilities of individuals and institutions.
