Katy Grigg

IDRIS Student Researchers

Katy Grigg is a Ph.D. candidate in Organization Management at Rutgers Business School, with a research focus in social entrepreneurship. Her research explores the moral responsibilities of social ventures. Through her work, she aims to develop a framework that helps entrepreneurs balance mission and morality in ways that foster genuine social impact. Before academia, Katy gained extensive industry experience in operations, finance, and technology. She has served as a General Manager and Franchise Trainer at Five Guys, a Technology Department Manager at Yadav Enterprises and bought and sold a company. This hands-on experience informs her research and teaching, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Beyond her research, Katy is an active advocate for Ph.D. students at Rutgers Business School, playing a key role in organizing academic and professional development activities to support her peers. She also dedicates her time to volunteering throughout Newark and the surrounding areas, serving on committees for various nonprofit organizations that plan large-scale community events. Her work includes organizing food and clothing drives, Christmas celebrations, and initiatives that support children and families in need. Through both her academic and service efforts, she strives to foster meaningful impact in both research and the broader community.
